Friday’s Drink of the Week: Sidecar Cocktail

The Sidecar Cocktail:

This is one of my husband’s favorite cocktails.  Tyson and I first discovered the sidecar many years ago at “Musso and Frank Grill” the oldest restaurant in Hollywood.  Before kids, we would go to a late night dinner at Musso and Frank’s and order this sexy hollywood cocktail. As a self proclaimed mixologist, I now create my own at home.  If you want something different, strong and sweet at the same time, do yourself a favor and try this great sidecar cocktail recipe.  It’s a sexy cocktail and wow, my husband and I always have a really good time after enjoying a few of these! Wink!

On a side note: I’m changing things up a little here at “Ali in the Valley”.  Fridays will now be about drink of the week and Mondays will be about new recipes.  So instead of just one recipe a week I’m including two.  Yeah! In the near future there will be lots of new exciting changes coming to “Ali in the Valley.”  Stay tuned and thank you for all your support!

Have a great weekend!

Here’s a little background on the Sidecar: The Sidecar is a classic cocktail traditionally made with Cognac, orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier or another triple sec) and lemon juice. The exact origin of the Sidecar is unclear, but it is thought to have been invented around the end of World War I in either London or Paris. The Ritz Hotel in Paris claims origin of the drink.

Sidecar Recipe:  The Original from Harry’s Bar – Paris

1 1/2 oz. VS or VSOP cognac 3/4 oz. Cointreau 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a sugared rim. Garnish with an orange peel
