Love Tacos? Then you will love these Walking Tacos also known as Taco in a Bag! They are the perfect party food or easy dinner recipe. It starts with a bag of corn chips or nacho cheese that you crunch up. Then pile on taco meat and all of your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, salsa, onions, tomatoes, guacamole and more. Everyone can make their own version with their favorite toppings. Clean up is a breeze!

What Is A Walking Taco?

If you’ve been to a party, fair, carnival etc. then I’m sure you’ve had a Walking Taco! Maybe you call them Taco in a Bag? Whatever you name them they are amazing!

They are one of my favorite entertaining foods because they are so simple to make and clean up is a breeze. Plus, everyone can customize their toppings easily.

The first step is to make your taco meat and prep your toppings!

Why Is It Called A Walking Taco?

Walking Tacos got this name because they are the perfect food to serve at gatherings because they are easy to “walk” around with and enjoy while mingling with others. You can hold them in your hand, they require no plates and there’s little to no mess to clean up. Simply assemble your taco in your chip bag and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • 1 oz envelope taco seasoning

  • ¼ c. water

  • 6 individual size bags of chips Fritos or Nacho Cheese Doritos

  • Toppings: Shredded lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced black olives, diced avocado or guacamole, chopped onion, salsa or pico de gallo, sour cream etc.

Directions

  • Prepare your taco meat by browning the hamburger in a large skillet until cooked through. Drain off any grease. Mix in taco seasoning and ¼ c. water. Stir until combined and simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Prep toppings and place in individual bowls.
  • You can serve on a large “board” arranging all the toppings on the board for a fun display.
  • Each person will take a bag of chips, crush them, cut the top off the bag and then pile in their favorite toppings, mix it in the bag and eat!
