Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita

Summer entertaining is in full swing, and that means backyard parties, cookouts, and warm weather. What better way to beat the heat than with a cold, fruity beverage? This isn’t your typical strawberry margarita, and that’s a good thing!

Instead of being made from frozen concentrate, it’s prepared using fresh strawberries and limes and served on the rocks. The Jalapeño gives this cocktail so much extra flavor that makes this drink really stand out. Can’t or don’t want to use alcohol? No problem! The strawberry syrup would taste wonderful mixed into sparkling water or club soda. Either way, these margaritas are sure to disappear quickly!

These are sweet from the strawberries, a little spicy from the jalapeño and the perfect refreshing cocktail after a long week!! The recipe below serves 2, but you can easily batch these up and make them ahead of time if serving a crowd. Just make sure to give the mixture a stir before pouring so you ensure the alcohol is evenly combined!

Let’s talk about the “health benefits” of this sweet summer cocktail.

  1. Strawberries = antioxidants + vitamin C
  2. Jalapeno= A single jalapeno pepper contains vitamin C andantioxidants
  3. Organic Blue Agave = Better the sugar!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ripe strawberries, green tops removed

  • ½ inch jalapeño pepper

  • 2 limes, juiced

  • 2 teaspoons agave nectar

  • 4 ounces silver tequila

  • Sparkling water to top

Directions

  • Combine the strawberries and jalapeño pepper in a small blender until smooth. Strain if you prefer but I’m lazy and usually don’t bother. Pour the contents of the blender in a shaker.
  • Add the lime juice, agave nectar and tequila and a handful of ice. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake for 30-60 seconds to mix and chill the margarita.
  • Strain the juice out and serve over ice with a splash of sparkling water.
